I LOVE THIS SONG....
Yea, those days are long, long gone.
hate to tell you that this wasn't 100% analog
Fuckin hell. What a time this must have been. I was born in 1997. All I’ve known is fake performances. If I’m being honest, only people I’ve seen who didn’t use lip sync or auto tune in a concert was Post Malone and Motionless in White.🤷🏾😂
Si verdad
Music sucks so muck rn...
The words "Don't Stop Believin'" are not sung until 50 seconds from the end. This is one of the greatest songs ever composed.
That always fascinated me. Illustrates how strong every note of this song is. Truly the G.O.A.T.
a lot of people agree with you - and me too. i looked down on " Stadium Rock " - coming from the sixties, but i bow down to these guys and this song in particular. A.I. may eventually produce stuff like this, but it is the human experience that ultimately makes this stuff important.
In my opinion, this is one of the greatest songs of all time.
Edit: Thanks for the likes! :)
Agree
One of the greatest in the era of great songs and singers!
Easily one of the best in the 80s
I like 13x16, so I will put my 👍, here!😃
We won't stop believing forever.
Look at the stage setting: a bunch of simple lights, simple drums, bass, guitar and piano. And Steve’s miraculous voice. Nothing else, nothing, just plain and powerful rock & roll played by true artists. We will never listen to things like this anymore…
Yep, it all went to *&^% with Autotune and being able to shake your junk around.
Song wise, there is nothing simple here at all. The song is one of the very best "crafted" pieces I've ever heard. There is allot going on in this song musically, and the only way to explain it is to look at how a pocket watch works. Musically, it's like that.
nunca pare de acreditar...
We could. Nothing is stopping us. It's OUR future!

Sheer god-given talent. A golden voice.
I was 17 years old and I was there. Me and my buddies were about 15 rows back on the floor. It was amazing. I saw them again in 1986 on their Raised On Radio Tour in Dallas,TX. Also, amazing.

To sing at that level live & hit those notes & runs. Wow . That’s beyond me.
this is real and pure

i thought even if i was a billionnaire it would be impossible
many of my heroes from the sixties had a hard time performing live as good as the studio tricks. Perry is still alive and well and of course we see even better that the original recording. the instrumental technique was zero difficult, but by the same token the band members were extremely skilled. they rolled it all back as Perry joined the band. by dumping their egos and joining with Perry - the rest is history. god bless them all.
NETFLIX “WE ARE THE WORLD “ brought me here! Steve Perry ‘s voice is just amazing!! ❤️❤️❤️

No autotune, no backing tracks, no BS, just some amazing musicians who have left their mark quite clearly way way up there.
Hell yeah
La mejor época, música extraordinaria, lo mismo se dió tanto en temas en inglés como el rock en español.
Los años 80's fueron grandiosos.
Singer in the Heart ❤
you said it bro! Vintage TALENT and CREATIVITY - much lacking in todays BS pop culture.
Musicians had to actually be musicians in that era. They had to have a real voice and know their instrument inside out. I played in bands in this era. The competition was intense, and it was real. I had the experience of totally kicking ass with a great set, or my band getting our asses handed to us by another band because they were better. But it was real competition. We had to work harder to get better. Now nobody cares about real music and the hard work that goes into it.

There is no band today that can do this. This was an amazing performance and Steve Perry's voice is out of this world.
Disagree - Journey with Arnel Pineda is still killing it today!
@E52O4 hey they are doing OK but let's face the facts the original journey at that live concert is way better than now. Remember facts don't jive with feelings.
Steve Perry is one of THE greatest voices of the 80's, period. Real music, real talent, real instruments and ALL Live! and incredible performances. Pretty rare today, if any at all. You wont see bands with talent like this anymore.
40 years after this concert and I'm watching it in 2021. Steve's voice is timeless

I'm here with you on that. Unfortunately, I was born in 1996 and didn't get to witness a lot of the "greats" in concert. I have such a huge connection to older music! ♥️
And 40 years later we are still discussing the awesomeness that is Steve Perry🙃
My daughter is 29 and knows the album word for word, what a great dad I am 😂😂
I am 28 and teaching my daughter every word :D
My daughter is 17 and said no one will ever be better than Steve Perry 🤘❤️

Yes, indeed! The best dad!
Surely this has to be one of the best live recordings ever captured. Perfect vocals, band member focus at the right moments, the mood, lighting, camera focus, literally everything. Excellent work by all who were involved.
lots of incredibly well-deserved praise here.
I’ve listened to them since the 70s and I will continue listening to them and I love them dearly
It's very rare to see someone who can have a live voice performance exactly as perfect as in the studio. Just awesome.

No human being should be able to sing like this live. No computer quality/ tuning controls, no software adjustments to put the vocals in the pocket, no digital anythings (which plague the industrialized scene these days) can achieve this. Simply stellar.
It can't be imitated, can it be better ,I'm waiting.

Steve Perry has one of the best rock, if not the best rock voice, in history. His range, clarity, agility, and power are unrivaled. Jon Bon Jovi and Freddie Mercury both hit a lot of amazing marks, but Steve is the guy who had, and still has, "the total package."
Journey was one of the greatest bands that were ever created, and their sound will go on in life as in church

I saw them play back-to-back nights in Salt Lake City I think it was in 1980. Rush was the warm-up band. I was so high on hashish! Got laid it was great.
I really prefer this live version than the studio version. Amazing
I only came to check this out cus Forbes Magazine announced this as The Biggest Song of all Time.
Beautiful ❤.
The greatest piece of late 1970s music vibes and fashion that barely escaped that hallowed decade and instead came out in 1981...the single greatest decade of American entertainment of the 20th Century. I was in pre school in '81 smack bang in the middle of already experiencing The Empire Strikes Back, The Blues Brothers and Superman II first time round. '81 was another blockbuster year to live thru watching Mad Max 2, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Escape from New York rounded off by this legendary Journey song at the end of the year. An unbelievable time for teens in the early 80s. Thanks for the memories 1980s, will never forget you...or Journey.
Forbes magazine just named this song The Biggest Song of All Time. Of course it is! Congratulations, Steve and Journey! ❤

"This is probably one of the best live performances I've ever seen"
Especially the singer's shirt....it's just mesmerizing....
I've heard George Clinton and Gary Shider and Earth, Wind, and Fire live and they sound as good or better than their recordings. These are artists that can flat out sing and perform!
The Escape record was recorded in 1981, there weren't too many studio gadgets at the time. They had the basics: reverb, flange, chorus and the most complicated piece of equipment at the time was the Eventide 910. You had the and a 24 track tape recorder and that was it. The sound engineer hit the record button and the band played. You got what you got. It wasn't until the mid/late1980's and the semiconductor/chips that things really started to change. More and more gadgets were invented, and you could cover up all the fuck ups shitty musicians made.
Hard to surpass this group of natural talent.. what a performance and it was in the early 1980s .. Pure Rock History

Good lord I don't even think he uses any kind of in ear monitor or anything. He's just totally pitch perfect naturally. What an amazing singer
They had no in-ear monitoring systems back in '82. That's a product of the late 80's- early 90's. He just had floor monitors. And the early in-ear stuff was just horrible. Took about 15 years to get to the point where it was passable.
Jacob Dexter one of the best tenors and best vocalists ever
You are correct sir. I played in bar bands in the 70s and 80s and when I would go to big arenas to see headliners, I was always amazed that they could hear anything out of the floor monitors, even with PA's that cost 1/2 million bucks!
